The Cleveland Browns pulled off a surprise on the first day of the 2025 NFL draft when they traded down from the No. 2 spot to the No. 5 position with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jags used that No. 2 pick to get Heisman Trophy winner and two-way star of the Colorado Buffaloes Travis Hunter. Meanwhile, the Browns opted to select Michigan Wolverines product and defensive tackle Mason Graham.

Given the circumstances of how the Browns arrived at selecting him and who (Hunter) they passed up on taking, Graham is always going to be under the microscope, at least during his first season in the pros.

However, he had an embarrassing moment during the minicamp when he “puked and all” in practice, according to defensive line coach Jacques Cesaire. That being said, Cesaire had nothing but good things to say about Graham outside of that.

“I love Mason,” Cesaire said via Browns Zone. “The thing I love about Mason, I think everybody heard he ate a little bit too much and he threw up that first day. But what a lot of people are not talking about is that the kid finished.”

“But here’s a kid that every day he got better. Every day he came out here, he’s running to the ball as fast as he could. You see his rush game developing, you see him launching with hands. It’s going to be hard obviously coming from a read scheme, going to an attack scheme. But he’s done a really good job and he’s great in the room, extremely smart individual, hardworking. So I can’t wait to see him come out and play.”

Graham has a lot of learning to do in the offseason with the Browns, as he looks to be as prepared as possible for the 2025 NFL campaign, with Cleveland expecting him to play a prominent role on their Myles Garrett-led stop unit that was 11th in 2024 in the NFL with a 7.43 percent sack rate.
