Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been working diligently, but he’s now in the headlines for the wrong reasons.
According to Fox 8 Cleveland, he was pulled over early Tuesday morning for allegedly driving over 100 mph. As stated on Strongsville police records, Sanders was traveling at 101 mph, 41 miles over the speed limit. He was stopped at 12:24 a.m.
Sanders, the Browns’ fifth-round NFL Draft pick was given a citation and has the option of paying the fine or fighting the ticket in court.

He was once projected as a top-five pick but fell to 144th overall due to concerns about his athleticism and off-field maturity. The son of NFL legend Deion Sanders arrived in Cleveland with immense hype despite where he was drafted.
Sanders’ 2024 college stats of 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns, while completing those attempts at 74% will forever keep him in line for at least an opportunity, however, this speeding incident could delay that.
As of now, it seems like veteran Joe Flacco is on pole to start the season, with former Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett not too far behind. Sanders, along with third-round rookie draft pick Dillon Gabriel, are competing for the third-string role.
Although Sanders showed promise during mandatory rookie minicamp last week, he could be facing a steeper uphill battle heading into the season, especially if off-the-field incidents become a habit.
