Coach Bill Callahan has telling quote about Redskins' approach to analytics
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Redskins have a nasty habit of saying the quiet part out loud when it comes to their organizational shortcomings.

On Wednesday, interim coach Bill Callahan admitted the team didn’t have anyone on its coaching staff to analyze fourth down or clock management decisions — but it might not be the worst idea.

That’s about right. The Redskins do have analytics in the front office, but it’s an organization that inevitably seems incapable of making themselves sound like they have it together. It probably wouldn’t help them this season, but yes, it’s certainly something worth considering.

Despite the fact that it’s a pretty cringe-worthy quote from Callahan, it’s probably not the most tone-deaf thing said about the organization by one of its employees this season. That’s really quite telling.
