When most people think of the NFL, they think of the players on the field, but that’s only a small piece of a larger operation. The front office is crucial to assembling a Super Bowl team.
The Athletic recently polled NFL executives to find who has the best front office in the league, and the reigning Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles came out on top. The Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Rams, Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills rounded out the top five.
In the NFL, success must start at the top.

So we asked head coaches and executives across the league to vote on which front offices are the best.

If there were a definition of what a close to perfect front office should be, the Eagles would be it. Recently criticized by future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees for having a “boring” offense, the Eagles are one of the more complete teams in the league thanks to executive vice president and general manager Howie Roseman.
Roseman, a two-time Super Bowl Champion (LII and LIX) as an executive, has been with the Eagles for 26 years. Known for his shrewdness and for building his roster through the draft, Roseman sets the standard for other executives to follow by drafting smart players, signing those who fit the culture and extending them early, which pre-sets the market.
Executives noted that what drove them to vote for Roseman and the Eagles as the best was the signing of Saquon Barkley, but he also received kudos for drafting Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, and signing free agent Zach Baun, who is one of the heartbeats of their defense.
Some executives who spoke to The Athletic described the Eagles as being further along in “acquiring value,” having a “thumb on the pulse of the league,” and being “top-of-the-line.”
“They’re probably even further along the spectrum in terms of understanding and acquiring value,” an executive said. “There’s a level of aggression there. And they’re really creative.”
“They always have their thumb on the pulse of the league and where to find value, always put a premium on being able to protect their QB and affect the other team’s quarterback,” an executive added.
“Top-of-the-line scouting, analytics, cap, and player development,” another executive said.
The Eagles certainly know what they’re doing, as they’re 3-0 on the season as they look to repeat as Super Bowl champions. They are set to battle the 3-0 Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa on Sunday.
