Colin Cowherd seems to have it out for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
No matter what they do, when they do it, or who it involves, he tends to lash out on Pittsburgh's decsion making.
The Steelers' decision to trade Minkah Fitzpatrick was no different...
"So they get rid of a safety [Minkah Fitzpatrick], who’s a little past his prime, and they add a corner, who’s more expensive, Jalen Ramsey, who’s past his prime," said Colin on The Herd with Colin Cowherd. "They get rid of a very high-maintenance wide receiver in George Pickens, and then they inherit a wide receiver who can be high-maintenance, DK Metcalf. You’re just making moves to make moves. There is no plan. If you were to move off George Pickens and acquire Terry McLaurin, the adult in the room, that’s a move I’d get.”
My first rebuttal would be that when the Steelers were looking to make deals around free agency, there wasnt the same noise surrounding the Terry McLauin situation that there is now.
Second, who is to say the team still can't pull of a deal and make McLaurin and Metcalf their duo of the future? The problem here, and it seems to be a prevalent one amomg the national media, is that people seem to believe that Minkah Fitzpatrick is still the same player he once was.
They also seem to forget that Jalen Ramsey was easily the best player on the Dolphins defense for the majority of the season. Or that Jonnu Smith has a familiarity with offensive coordinator Arthur Smith and is coming off his best season as a pro, earning Pro Bowl honors with the Miami Dolphins.
But as far as Cowherd goes, this is a guy who wanted the team to trade the literal franchise: first-round picks, Minkah Fitzpatrick and T.J. Watt...in exchange for Shedeur Sanders, who fell to the fifth round before the Cleveland Browns took him.
So yea, I think the Steelers are just fine.
