Colin Cowherd gives worst take yet on Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer

Talking head Colin Cowherd clearly doesn't believe that Brian Schottenheimer is the right choice for the Dallas Cowboys as head coach.

That's a debatable take, of course. Schottenheimer is the son of Marty Schottenheimer, who was a great NFL head coach from the late 80s to the 2000s. Brian has also been in the league himself since 2001 and has a ton of experience as an offensive coordinator.

Was he a bit of an uninspiring hire by Jerry Jones after the Mike McCarthy era came to an end? Absolutely, and that's not even mentioning the fact that Schottenheimer was a holdover from McCarthy's staff.

Still, it's too early to judge Schottenheimer, because he hasn't even coached a game yet as the head man of an NFL franchise. It's just too early.

Judging him based on what he wears to a press conference during training camp, though? That's just ridiculous, but it's exactly what Cowherd did on his show on Monday.

Cowherd, 61, apparently took offense at Schottenheimer's "patented" backwards visor hat look as he took questions recently at training camp.

"You know I don't like backward hats. What's worse is a backward visor. That's a two-win team. I'm taking away four wins," Cowherd absurdly said on Monday.

In a league in which Bill Belichick, who is the opposite of a fashion icon, won six Super Bowls as a head coach, believing that what a head coach wears on the sideline, let alone what he wears during training camp, equals wins or losses, is a preposterous take from Cowherd.

He's had bad opinions in the past, but he, at least, has usually tried to justify them with some sort of facts or analysis. He did so with this one too, but again we're talking apples and oranges. It just doesn't add up.

"When you sit in front of a podium, you're representing the Cowboys, you're representing Bank of America. You're representing a $12B corporation. I think you've got to do better as a head coach than a visor backwards," Cowherd said. "There's a reason at country clubs and private clubs that you have to wear collared shirts and jackets. There's a reason for that. There's a standard. I don't want [you] to look like a guy who's here to move my couch. I want you to do better than that. That's awful. That is so bad."
