During an episode of "The Herd" this week, Colin Cowherd named seven athletes who are untradeable. There's one in particular that stands out from the rest of the bunch.
Cowherd showed love to Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, and Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders. He also placed MLB stars Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge in his top seven.
The only NBA player to crack Cowherd's list was Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets. The three-time MVP has already cemented his status as one of the best centers in league history.
While the six athletes mentioned are all incredible special, Cowherd gave the top spot on his list to Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark.
For starters, Clark has elevated the WNBA's merchandise sales and TV ratings. Cowherd also pointed out that Indiana would legitimately revolt if she was traded to another team.
"No. 1 is Caitlin Clark. Literally moved merchandise up 550% for the league," Cowherd said. "She is not only the face of the WNBA, she's the greatest face, the most popular face ever. If Indiana moved off her, I think the fan base would absolutely revolt. She turned the Fever and the league around. She's untradeable."
Clark is undoubtedly the face of women's basketball. The WNBA's ratings soar when she's on the court.
Unfortunately, Clark has missed time due to injury this season. She returned from a quad strain only to suffer a groin injury a few games later. If she's unavailable for an extended period of time, that'll negatively impact the league's ratings.
Do you agree with Cowherd that Clark is the most untradeable athlete in sports?
