After Baker Mayfield's release by the Carolina Panthers, Fox Sports personality Colin Cowherd called the former No. 1 overall pick a bust.
"At this point, Baker's career is a bust."

"I never thought Baker was a No. 1 talent," said Cowherd, who called Mayfield a "D-plus quarterback."
Cowherd, who has never been a Mayfield fan, may have a point.
The Rams, who signed Mayfield on Tuesday, reportedly were the only team to put in a claim for him.
The Rams were the only team to place a waiver claim on Baker Mayfield, per source.

Mayfield could play Thursday against the Raiders, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
In six games as Carolina's starter, Mayfield went 1-5, passing for 1,313 yards, six touchdowns and six interceptions. He was replaced as starter by journeyman P.J. Walker and then Sam Darnold, the team's former starter.
The QB-needy 49ers, who lost Jimmy Garoppolo for at least the rest of the regular season, passed on Mayfield. They signed journeyman Josh Johnson to back up rookie Brock Purdy, "Mr. Irrelevant" from the 2022 NFL Draft.
Mayfield might be the worst No. 1 overall QB selection in the NFL Draft since JaMarcus Russell of the Raiders in 2007. To be fair, though, Mayfield has yet to reach the depths Russell did.
On Jan. 10, 2021, Mayfield led the Browns to their first playoff win in 18 years. The Browns reportedly were willing at one point to sign him to a lucrative extension. This season, Mayfield has the lowest QBR in the league.
Now he's a journeyman, too.
"Baker to the Rams," Cowherd said. "Good luck."
