College player’s top 5 NFL WRs of all-time was a total joke

Western Michigan University freshman cornerback John Peters, donning his No. 24 Broncos jersey at Waldo Stadium, unleashed a top-5 all-time NFL wide receivers list that’s equal parts bold and baffling.

It begs the question: Do modern college athletes educate themselves on NFL history? The answer, it seems, is no. At least in the case of Peters.

Peters views the all-time top-5 as:

  1. Justin Jefferson
  2. Ja’Marr Chase
  3. Randy Moss
  4. Odell Beckham Jr.
  5. Zay Flowers

Moss at No. 3? Sure — the Vikings legend’s 15,292 yards and freakish athleticism cement his Hall of Fame status. But the rest? Pure recency bias from a 19-year-old who’s likely inhaled more TikTok highlights than VHS tapes.

When healthy, Jefferson and Chase dominate today’s game, leading 2025 fantasy drafts, yet they’re lightyears from all-time greats like Jerry Rice (22,895 career yards) or Terrell Owens (15,934 yards). OBJ, once a spectacle with one-handed grabs, languishes unsigned in 2025, chasing another Super Bowl ring amid injury woes.

And Zay Flowers at No. 5? The Ravens’ speedster ranks a respectable No. 9 in PFF grades and WR16 in fantasy points per game — not even sniffing current top-5 status, let alone eternal glory.

Do college football players like Peters ever crack a history book, or is NFL lore just ancient scrolls in the TikTok era? This list screams “study up, kid.”
