Colts activate tight end ahead of Titans matchup
Bob Scheer-USA TODAY Sports.

The Indianapolis Colts activated tight end Will Mallory from injured reserve Saturday, adding a receiving option ahead of Sunday’s divisional matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

Mallory missed the first five games with a thumb injury after Indianapolis placed him on injured reserve August 30. The Colts opened his 21-day practice window October 7, and he participated fully throughout this week’s practices.

His return bolsters the Colts’ tight end depth with Tyler Warren questionable because of a groin injury.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared the roster move Saturday on X, formerly Twitter, confirming the fourth-year pass catcher’s activation ahead of the Week 6 AFC South contest.

“Colts activated tight end Will Mallory from the Injured Reserve list.”

Indianapolis selected Mallory in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, choosing the Miami product with the 162nd overall pick.

He has appeared in 24 career games, including two starts, and caught 23 passes for 252 yards. In 2025, he played in two games and recorded one reception for 16 yards.

Mallory showed promise before the injury, catching six passes for 80 yards in the preseason opener against the New England Patriots.

He rejoins a Colts tight end position group featuring Warren, Mo Alie-Cox, Drew Ogletree, and Pharaoh Brown. The former Penn State standout recorded 30 receptions for 213 yards and two touchdowns this season, along with a rushing score.

Indianapolis removed Mallory’s questionable designation following his activation. Warren’s status remains unresolved after he participated on a limited basis Friday, leaving Indianapolis awaiting clarity on another receiving option.

The Colts head into Sunday at 2-3, while the Titans remain winless at 0-5. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern at Lucas Oil Stadium, with Mallory available for his season debut.
