Colts Encouraged to Pursue Kirk Cousins in Offseason Trade With Falcons

Fans were ecstatic when the Indianapolis Colts selected Anthony Richardson with the fourth overall pick in 2023.

The Florida quarterback was compared to Buffalo Bills superstar Josh Allen in the sense that he wielded a unique combination of speed, power, and a rocket arm.

The only catch was that Richardson was an extremely raw prospect, so it would take a few years of seasoning and a bit of luck for these abilities to come to fruition.

Unfortunately, the polarizing quarterback has worn out his welcome in Indianapolis already with the team’s brass bringing in veteran quarterback Daniel Jones as competition.

Everyone outside of the Colts’ building believes that the battle will be counterintuitive because both players have massive deficiencies in their games.

They drafted a quarterback in the sixth round, so although he’ll probably never play for the team unless there is a dire injury situation, Indianapolis is clearly willing to exhaust all options at the position.

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report made a list of potential landing spots for some of the most logical trade pieces in the league and the Colts made the list.

It is clear that the Atlanta Falcons have had enough of the Kirk Cousins experience and they are willing to trade him so he doesn’t just rot away on the bench.

Knox has Indianapolis signing up for a few seasons of Cousins in a move that would revive the quarterback position in Indiana.

They’ve been grasping at straws since Andrew Luck abruptly retired in 2019 and have had no luck.

Cousins is obviously a far cry from the player he was with the Minnesota Vikings a couple seasons ago, but he proved during the first half of last season that he is still a capable starter in the league.

This is a move the Colts should strongly consider as they won’t have to give up much compensation and will get a quality starter in return.
