The Indianapolis Colts have signed a new kicker.

The Colts were searching for a new kicker after Spencer Shrader suffered a season-ending knee injury during his team’s 40-6 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 5. Shrader reportedly suffered multiple torn ligaments in his knee.

Needing a new kicker, the Colts worked out several players on Tuesday. They ended up signing Michael Badgley, who is in his second stint with the team.

Badgley, 30, kicked for the Los Angeles Chargers from 2018-2020. He played 12 games with the Colts during the 2021 season, and he was with the Detroit Lions in 2022 and 2023. Badgley missed all of last season due to a torn hamstring.

Badgley went 4/4 on field goals and 13/15 on extra points during the 2023 season. He went 24/28 (85.7 percent) on field goals and 33/33 on extra points in the 2022 season (split with two teams).

The Colts should be able to provide plenty of scoring chances to Badgley. They have been one of the biggest surprises in the NFL with a 4-1 record. Their 74-point differential is the highest in the NFL, and their 163 points scored is second only to the Detroit Lions.
