Colts' interim head coach choice leaves Twittersphere dumbfounded

Soon after the Indianapolis Colts relieved Frank Reich of his head coaching duties, owner Jim Irsay named Jeff Saturday as the team's interim lead man. To say that folks on Twitter were surprised would be a massive understatement.

While Saturday obviously has an extensive history with the Colts, the fact that the organization is electing not to go with an assistant coach to take over the job for now stunned many.

A six-time Pro Bowler and two-time First Team All-Pro, Saturday was signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 1998 but was cut and subsequently signed with Indianapolis. Saturday spent his first 12 seasons with the Colts from 1999 through 2 011, before wrapping up his career with the Green Bay Packers in 2012.

According to Zak Keefer of The Athletic, Saturday's future with Indianapolis is still uncertain, despite Monday's news.
