Colts' K K Spencer Shrader ruled out with knee injury

The newly named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September has been ruled out for the remainder of the Colts' Week 5 matchup against the Raiders.

He suffered a right knee injury on an extra point attempt in the second quarter. After he booted the ball through the uprights, Tristin McCollum ran into his right knee, causing Shrader to fall to the ground clutching his leg.

Shrader was able to walk off the field on his own volition to enter the blue medical tent, shortly before heading to the locker room. Punter Rigoberto Sanchez will take Shrader's place on kickoff and field goal attempts, if the Colts choose to kick.

The Colts chose to pass on kicking an extra point after Michael Pittman's touchdown to end the second quarter. Indianapolis failed to convert, and if Las Vegas can crawl its way back into this game, the loss of Shrader can play a massive role if the Colts can't kick extra points, let alone field goals.

Entering Week 5, Shrader was leading the league in field goals made (13) and recorded 51 points. He is a perfect 12-12 on extra points, now 14-14 with his stats from Week 5 before exiting the game.
