Colts make multiple roster moves to add depth to a position group hit hard by injuries as of late

The Indianapolis Colts have had some excellent luck in terms of the health of their offensive line this season. For the first 15 weeks of the year, the team had never had to play a game without two or more of its starters on the field. Now that luck could be running out.

The team placed RT Braden Smith on the IR after he suffered a neck injury and a concussion, ending his regular season. In Week 15, LT Bernhard Raimann sustained an elbow injury, and his status going forward is in question. Now the Colts' offensive line is in danger of having to be played without multiple starters for the first time this year. As a result, the team made numerous signings to add depth to the group.

Colts announce the signing of three offensive linemen

With Smith out last week, the Colts turned to rookie Jalen Travis to start at RT. They now seem to be in danger of being without both starting tackles in Week 16 against the San Francisco 49ers. How they choose to align their offensive line in that case would be interesting to see.

First of all, would Travis be at RT or LT, given that he is the most trustworthy reserve tackle on their roster? Secondly, they signed two guards among these three moves, so they would look to move starting RG Matt Goncalves back out to his original position of tackle. Personally, I would keep it simple and elevate a tackle in that case and not change any more on the offensive line than you already have to.

The most notable signing of this group is tackle Zach Thomas. Thomas has taken 339 snaps since the start of his career in 2022, with last year marking his most significant role as he surpassed 100 offensive snaps for the first time in his career. He still hasn't logged a start in the NFL, though. Bill Murray and Ladarius Henderson have limited NFL experience to date. The Houston Texans selected Henderson in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, and he has yet to make his NFL regular-season debut.
