The Indianapolis Colts improved to 2-2-1 on the 2022 NFL season via Thursday's 12-9 overtime win at the Denver Broncos in a game that featured so little quality that some home fans headed to the exits before the extra period kicked off because they'd already seen enough.
While Denver's ABC affiliate ultimately apologized for airing the contest, Colts owner Jim Irsay let it be known such opinions about the matchup's entertainment value meant little to him coming off the victory.
"There is no such thing as an ugly win," Irsay remarked after the result, as shared by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. "There’s no such thing as a beautiful loss. So, to me, I know it was tough. But this win looks like a beauty to me. Raquel Welch times 40."
Certain younger individuals may not be aware that Ms. Welch first became known as a sex symbol roughly six decades ago or that the world-famous actress later starred in a hilarious "Seinfeld" episode:
Jokes aside, even Irsay would probably admit there's little funny about the play of veteran quarterback Matt Ryan over his first five games as a member of the Colts. Ryan threw two more interceptions in the win over Denver to increase his number of picks on the year to a whopping seven, and ESPN stats show the 2016 NFL Most Valuable Player began Friday 25th among eligible signal-callers with a 79.8 passer rating and a 34.2 total QBR for the campaign.
Ryan and the Colts next host the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6 on Oct. 16.
