Colts owner posts cryptic tweet after latest Jonathan Taylor news

With Jonathan Taylor's trade request still looming over the Indianapolis Colts, head coach Shane Steichen revealed Sunday that the star running back would return to practice soon, leading to a cryptic tweet from owner Jim Irsay.

Shortly after Steichen's comments about Taylor, Irsay summoned his inner Tom Petty, quoting one of the late musician's songs, tweeting, "Most things I worry about never happen anyway," accompanied by a praying hands emoji.

Now, there's no way of knowing whether or not Irsay's tweet was related to Taylor. Perhaps Irsay was going through his record collection and simply wanted to share one of his favorite lyrics. However, considering the timing, one would be naive to think it had nothing to do with Taylor.

Since Taylor's request, Irsay has been outspoken about the situation and his past comments vibe with his social media post on Sunday. Last month, Irsay seemed unbothered by Taylor wanting out, saying the NFL "rolls on" with or without both of them.

On Sunday, Steichen told reporters that Taylor, rehabbing an ankle injury, would be back at practice "this week."

"Do I know the exact date that he'll be back? No, but he should be back," Steichen said via James Boyd of The Athletic. "Once the medical staff clears him, he'll be back out there."

Since the Colts rebuffed Taylor's trade request, the bad blood between the two sides seems to have festered. For now, the Colts are telling Taylor they won't trade him because they'll never get full value for him, while also telling the back he's not worth paying. Quite the pill to swallow for arguably the Colts' best player, especially when he's only a year removed from winning the NFL rushing title.

When Taylor returns to practice, he'll likely play the good soldier. However, the distractions and questions will remain, and they won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
