The Indianapolis Colts ruled Jaylon Jones out for their Week 2 matchup vs. the Denver Broncos following Friday's practice. It seems they've elected to go a step further with his designation, though.
The team announced they are placing Jones on IR after he reaggravated the hamstring injury that held him out of most of training camp and the preseason. The injury is significant enough that the team felt the need to take this measure, which will force one of their top reserve CBs to miss time.
we have placed CB Jaylon Jones on IR.

we have signed S Trey Washington to the practice squad and released S Darrick Forrest from the practice squad.
we have also elevated RB Ulysses Bentley IV and CB Chris Lammons to the active roster from the practice squad for #DENvsIND.
Jones will now have to miss at least the next four weeks. This means the earliest he could return would be Week 6, when the team is scheduled to take on the Arizona Cardinals. He will now be forced to miss the team's matchups vs. the Tennessee Titans, Los Angeles Rams, and Las Vegas Raiders.
With Jones sidelined, the Colts will turn to Mekhi Blackmon and rookie Johnathan Edwards to play larger roles as their top reserve CBs. And in Week 2, that role will be even larger with starter Charvarius Ward also ruled out as he deals with a concussion.
2025 has not started the way Jones would have liked. Nursing a hamstring injury derailed his chances of winning a starting job. And now he will be sidelined and won't be able to make up the ground he lost in camp. Though the Colts like Blackmon and Edwards, I'd also expect them to add at least one CB to the active roster. That player could be a current free agent, but the most likely candidate is probably Chris Lammons off their practice squad, who has already been elevated ahead of game day twice.
Jaylon Jones WOW. His second INT of the day!
