Colts player accuses Rams of faking crowd noise

An Indianapolis Colts player has a serious allegation about his Week 4 opponent, the Los Angeles Rams

During an appearance on the "From Downs 2 Business" podcast, Colts safety Camryn Bynum accused the Rams of pumping fake crowd noise into SoFi Stadium because the fans aren't boisterous enough.

“They play fake crowd noise, because the crowd isn't that turnt," Bynum told host Josh Downs. "The Rams, they have a good fan base, but they moved around so much where it's like true fans. It's more of like a celebrity show in there. So it's like, all right, I know this is fake.”

Bynum said he noticed crowd noise coming from speakers during third downs when he was with the Minnesota Vikings last season.

“Because on third downs, you see the crowd is sitting down, but somehow there's noise coming from somewhere," Bynum said. "So we're just looking around last year. We're like, that noise is coming from the speakers because this crowd is, nobody's turned up right now. Nobody's screaming.”

Accusations of crowd pumping are common in the league. Ironically, the Colts have been an alleged participant in the controversy, as former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick claimed Indianapolis added artificial crowd noise when he went against Peyton Manning at the RCA Dome.

Late Colts owner Jim Irsay denied Belichick's claim that his team pumped fake crowd noise into their venues.

The league does not permit teams to use artificial crowd noise from stadium speakers to gain an advantage over road teams. The Atlanta Falcons were fined and lost a 2016 fifth-round pick when they were found to have pumped crowd noise in 2015.

The Rams would be wise to make sure there is no appearance of fake crowd noise on Sunday after Bynum's comments this week. However, Rams fans in the stadium might be more obnoxious to the visiting Colts after the safety suggested they don't get "turnt" during important situations.
