Colts QB Anthony Richardson named a 2024 MVP candidate
Clark Wade/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK

We, unfortunately, didn't get to see much from Anthony Richardson during his rookie season with the Indianapolis Colts due to his season-ending on IR after just playing in four games.

But that didn't stop Richardson from receiving some big pre-2024 hype, with him listed as one of ten players to watch for the 2024 MVP award.

NFL.com writer Nick Shook released his top 10 "way-to-early" power rankings for the 2024 MVP award. The top of his list is pretty simple, with the top QBs in the NFL: Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Lamar Jackson. But at number 7 is the name Colts fans will be pumped to see: Anthony Richardson.

Shook has Richardson above the likes of Jared Goff, Jordan Love, Aaron Rodgers, and multiple other talented players in the NFL. For Richardson to get this type of hype after only appearing in four NFL games, last season tells a lot about the flashes people saw in him. His ability as both a passer and a runner helps his chances for the award. We've seen Jackson (Lamar) of the Baltimore Ravens win the MVP twice already, which is the exact blueprint I'm sure the Colts and Richardson would be used if an MVP is in the young players' near future.

And the offense may not have the big names some people look for, but there is plenty of firepower to help Richardson reach these heights. A run game partner in Jonathan Taylor and young WR options in Micahel Pittman Jr., Josh Downs, Adonai Mitchell, and Alec Pierce. And don't forget Shane Steichen who has already proven himself to be one of the top offensive play callers and play designers in all of the NFL.
