Colts QB Carson Wentz misses practice with foot injury

The Indianapolis Colts rested several veteran players during Friday's practice. However, that isn't the reason Carson Wentz was sidelined.

According to ESPN's Mike Wells, Wentz is dealing with a foot injury. The severity of the ailment is unclear, and it's also uncertain when the quarterback might return to the field.

Jacob Eason, Sam Ehlinger and Jalen Morton will handle quarterbacking duties until Wentz is ready to return. The Colts practice Saturday and have Sunday off, so Wentz may not take the field again until next week.

Indianapolis acquired Wentz from the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason, reuniting him with Frank Reich.

Wentz recently said he's getting more accustomed to the culture with the Colts, saying it feels "a little bit more like home" after getting in more practice reps with the team.

The 28-year-old also told Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer last month that he believes the Colts have the pieces in place to have a successful 2021 season.

In addition, Reich is very confident Wentz can bounce back this year after an abysmal 2020 season. He said last month that he believes in the signal-caller and knows his hard work in training camp will pay off.
