On Wednesday, each NFL team released its schedule for the 2025 season in various ways, utilizing popular media figures, video game-themed release videos, and other creative styles. The Colts’ Minecraft-themed video faced significant backlash for its portrayal of their Week 1 opponent, the Miami Dolphins, as it threw shade at star wide receiver Tyreek Hill’s recent legal troubles.
Beyond the controversy surrounding the Colts’ schedule release video, another crucial aspect is how their schedule shapes up for the 2025 Colts and their chances of making the playoffs.
Yahoo Sports’ Frank Schwab calculated each team’s strength of schedule in an article published Wednesday morning, and it appears that the Colts will have a chance to contend in 2025.
Each team’s strength of schedule is determined by the average win percentage of their opponents in 2024. This gives the New York Giants the most difficult schedule with a 57.4% opponent win percentage, while the San Francisco 49ers have the easiest schedule at a 41.5%.

The Colts drew a relatively strong hand at 46.4%, which ranks as the eighth easiest schedule for next season. However, this method isn’t a perfect indicator of the Colts’ strength of schedule for 2025, as some teams faced a challenging 2024 season due to injuries or acquired key players that should significantly assist them in the upcoming season.
For example, the Colts’ divisional opponents in the AFC South all had strong offseasons, making the six games Indy will play against the Titans, Jaguars, and Texans a tougher stretch than last season.
Additionally, the Week 16 matchup against the Niners will be a more significant test than it would have been last season because they have reloaded their aging defense with a wealth of talent in the draft.
This isn’t the case overall, however, as opponents like the Dolphins and Steelers are projected to have challenging seasons compared to their performance in 2024.
Next season marks a pivotal moment for the Colts’ entire organization, and a more manageable schedule gives Anthony Richardson, Shane Steichen, and Chris Ballard an opportunity to prove they deserve to stay in Indianapolis.
