The Colts pulled their schedule-release video on Wednesday night due to a Tyreek Hill joke and Microsoft licensing. The video looked as if it had something to do with Tyreek Hill and his arrest by the US Coast Guard. Also, it looked as if the team was trying to spoof Minecraft without the appropriate legal clearance. The video was released on Thursday morning and turned down right after. Could the team face public backlash or even a fine from the NFL let’s dive into the details.
The video used Minecraft-style animation which would feature a short clip of each matchup for the team’s 2025 regular season. In week one of the regular season the Colts take on Hill’s Dolphins. In the video, there is a dolphin labeled “Hill” wearing a No. 10 Dolphins jersey (Hill’s Number).
He is shown swimming next to a Coast Guard ship with a Coast Guard officer peering over the side with his arms crossed. Hill has had his share of legal trouble in his nine-year NFL career.
His most recent brush with the law came in 2024 when he was detained outside of Miami’s Hard Rock stadium and cited with two traffic violations before a 2024 Dolphins home game, according to The Athletic. This is not the first time a franchise has used a creative video to reveal a team’s schedule it has become common practice for teams to do this.
The difference is teams try to steer clear of any controversy in the past something the Colts did not do. The team is already receiving backlash online for their depiction of Hill.
It only took the team an hour after posting to take it down and release a statement to Hill and the Dolphins. The team stated ” We removed our scheduled release video because it exceeded our rights with Microsoft and included an insensitive clip involving Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill. We sincerely apologize to Microsoft and Tyreek.”
The Colts were definitely in the wrong and did the right thing by taking it down while also apologizing. The team has also released a new schedule release video utilizing their post-practice camera that catches the players walking off the field.
The team would also use their partnership with X and NBA Paint which has illustrations of a Colts logo fighting their opponents. The 2025 NFL season kicks off for the Colts on Sept. 7, when the team faces the Dolphins in Week 1 . Stay tuned to Total Apex Sports for all your Colts news.
