Colts rule out TE Kylen Granson, two others vs. Saints

The Indianapolis Colts have ruled out tight end Kylen Granson, right tackle Braden Smith and rookie cornerback JuJu Brents for Sunday's home game against the New Orleans Saints.

Granson missed practice Wednesday, Thursday and Friday while in concussion protocol following a 37-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Oct. 15. He sat out last week's game against Cleveland.

Granson, 25, has played in six games and started two, catching 16 passes for 170 yards and one touchdown. A fourth-round pick by the Colts in the 2021 NFL Draft out of SMU, Granson has 58 career receptions for 578 yards and one touchdown in 36 games (six starts).

Smith missed the last two games and all of practice this week with hip and wrist injuries.

Smith, 27, has started in all five games he has played this season, but he hasn't played since a 23-16 win over the Tennessee Titans on Oct. 8. The Colts made him a second-round selection in the 2018 draft out of Auburn, and he has started 75 of 77 games.

Colts coach Shane Steichen said Friday that he doesn't expect Brents' quadriceps injury to sideline him for long. Brents sustained during a 39-38 loss to the Browns.

Brents, 23, a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Kansas State, has started four of five games this season. He has 24 tackles, one interception and one forced fumble.
