The Indianapolis Colts' ongoing battle to be their starting QB between Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones is all anyone wants to talk about.

The team is likely going to have to take their time announcing who will be their Week 1 starter, but they do have a decision that needs to be made in the coming days. Which QB will get the start in the team's first preseason game vs. the Baltimore Ravens? And it seems like they know the answer to that question, they just aren't ready to let the public know.

An announcement on which QB will start for the Colts vs. the Ravens seems to be coming soon

The Colts and Ravens are set to compete in joint practices this week ahead of their preseason matchup . In years past, this meant the Colts would rest their starters in the actual game. This year, things are a bit different for the Colts, as they still don't know who their starting QB is, and therefore won't know who to give the rest day to. Instead, it seems that at least some of the starters will get some playing time as they continue to evaluate Richardson and Jones to decide who is the best quarterback to lead them come Week 1 of the season against the Miami Dolphins.

While it'll be interesting to see who the team chooses to get the first crack in the preseason, I don't think it will give much indication of who the team could be leaning towards naming the winner of the competition. Whoever doesn't get the start against the Ravens will get the start against the Green Bay Packers in Week 2 of the preseason. Both games are scheduled to follow joint practice sessions, which will result in other starters being held out of the game. This should set both QBs on a level playing field come the preseason finale, which would force the team to show their hand. We will have to wait and see what decision the Colts have made, but I think it's safe to assume they've probably taken the time to let the QBs know the plan by now. And even if they don't let the public know right away, there might be hints via how they split starter snaps in practice as they prepare for the game.
