Colts sign former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles to two-year deal

The Indianapolis Colts added to the quarterback arsenal on Monday, finalizing a two-year deal with veteran signal-caller Nick Foles. NFL Network was the first to report the signing.

The signing reunites Foles with head coach Frank Reich, who was the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles when Foles led the team to a Super Bowl win at the end of the 2017-18 season.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Eagles had also shown interest in a reunion with Foles before he ultimately chose Indy.

Foles, 33, signed a four-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019 but broke his collarbone in the season-opener and ultimately lost the starting role to Gardiner Minshew. The Chicago Bears acquired the Super Bowl MVP via trade in 2020 but only played him in one game in 2021 as the team opted to bounce between rookie Justin Fields and veteran Andy Dalton. Chicago released Foles on May 1 of this year.

For Indianapolis, Foles will serve as backup to Matt Ryan, who the Colts acquired from the Atlanta Falcons in March.
