Colts Sign Offensive Lineman to Practice Squad After Injury
USA TODAY Sports

The Indianapolis Colts announced a move on their practice squad on Thursday.

Indianapolis signed guard Dakoda Shepley to replace cornerback Isaac Taylor-Stuart, who was moved to the practice squad injured list.

The Colts originally claimed Shepley off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys immediately after the 2022 season ended. He spent training camp and the preseason in Indianapolis.

Although Shepley was part of the team's roster cuts, he didn't join another active roster or sign with a different team's practice squad.

Shepley began his career as an undrafted free agent from Canada during 2018. He signed with the New York Jets following the 2018 NFL draft.

But he didn't make the team after the preseason and spent the next two years as a free agent despite multiple tryouts. Finally, Shepley joined his second NFL organization, the San Francisco 49ers, in late August 2020.

He appeared in one game for the 49ers that season. After San Francisco cut him following the 2021 preseason, he joined the Seattle Seahawks. He played eight games for Seattle in 2021.

Last year, he dressed for four games in Dallas.

Shepley played 14 snaps on offense for the Cowboys in 2022, but most of his NFL experience is on special teams. Over the past three seasons, Shepley has played 58 special teams snaps.

Coincidentally, Taylor-Stuart was also part of the Cowboys during the 2022 preseason just as Shepley was. But Dallas waived Taylor-Stuart in August 2022.

The Colts signed him during training camp this year on July 28. Indianapolis then signed Taylor-Stuart to the team's practice squad after waiving him as part of the final roster cuts.

Taylor-Stuart has never played in an NFL regular season game. He played college football at USC.

In three college seasons, Taylor-Stuart had 7 pass defenses and 2 interceptions during 26 games. He also had 80 total tackles, including 1 for a loss.
