Colts Week 16 loss just got even worse
Robert Scheer/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Indianapolis Colts Week 16 loss is looking even worse.

After both the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars also lost in Week 16.

Week 16 wasn't kind to the AFC South. All four teams suffered losses, including three who remain in a battle for the AFC South Championship. The Colts suffered an embarrassing 29-10 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. And to make it even worse, they now know that if they would have won, they would be in sole possession of 1st place in the AFC South. The Texans lost to the Cleveland Browns by a score of 36 to 22, and the Jaguars were dominated from start to finish against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

All three teams now sit at 8-7 on the year, with two weeks remaining. The Colts need to finish with a better record than the Jaguars to have a chance at the AFC South crown, as Jacksonville swept them this season. And they still have one matchup left with the Texans in Week 18, which has the chance to be a winner-gets-in (the playoffs) scenario. With the last time the Colts won the AFC South being in 2014, today stings even more.

Remaining Schedules for all three:

Colts

  • Week 17: Vs. Las Vegas Raiders (6-8)
  • Week 18: Vs. Houston Texans (8-7)

Texans

  • Week 17: Vs. Tennessee Titans (5-10)
  • Week 18: @ Indianapolis Colts (8-7)

Jaguars

  • Week 17: Vs. Carolina Panthers (2-13)
  • Week 18: @ Tennessee Titans (5-10)
