Colts WR Reveals A Tough Injury He Battled Through

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Parris Campbell hasn’t lived up to the hype that made him a second-round draft pick in 2019.

In his final year at Ohio State, he had 1,063 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.

Unfortunately, he only played seven games during his rookie year and made three starts.

Injuries were the reason for his struggles, as he dealt with a sports hernia and a broken hand.

Worst yet, he only played two games in 2020 after suffering a PCL and MCL injury on his left knee.

Last season, he appeared in six games, including their Week 18 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In three seasons with the Colts, Campbell has 360 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

He has more injuries than scoring catches which leads to the stories that The Athletic’s Zak Keefer shared.

Keefer tweeted, “Parris Campbell told us today he played in the Colts’ Week 18 game last January with a plate and screw in his injured foot. 2 weeks later, he had them removed.”

Campbell said, “Looking back on it, thinking about playing a plate and screws is kinda scary.”

Still, he is on his way to recovery and is projected to be a starter for Indianapolis in 2022.

Showcasing his talent to full extent will improves the Colts’ chances of entering the playoffs.

Campbell Should Help Their One-Dimensional Passing Game

For now, Michael Pittman Jr. is Matt Ryan‘s primary target during pass plays.

But a breakout season from Campbell helps relieve some pressure off Pittman.

Suddenly, defenders would have to pay attention to him, giving them favorable matchups downfield.

The 2022 season will be Campbell’s last chance to prove that he belongs in the NFL.

Otherwise, it would be difficult to see him getting any contract offers.
