Commanders' Dan Quinn Reveals 2 Things He Loves About Rookie Camp

The Washington Commanders' journey to replicate last season's efforts has begun with rookie mini-camp underway, and head coach Dan Quinn is ready to rock.

Having been through this with most of the roster last offseason, Quinn is again getting his hands the dirt and teaching the 2025 rookie class all that comes with being a Commander and the standards that he and the coaching staff are looking for.

Yes, the veterans are also in the building, despite not being forced to, and that is a big tick for the culture that Quinn, Jayden Daniels, Bobby Wagner, and others have built.

But for Quinn, this time of year is something he relishes. Why? It's a mixture of two things.

"I love this time to really go for it," Quinn said. "Different ways for the rookies, it's really the teaching, honestly, from the very beginning. We're not going to miss one step of their development along the way, it's a lot of the veterans who have been as part of the program what specific skills do you want to nail in over the next few weeks, these are the things that we're going to work on.

"That collaboration and putting that plan together, I do love that. It's nice to see how hard everybody's working right off the bat and to find those things to improve upon, so those are the two things, they're separate, but I love both of them equally."

This is the time of the year when the foundation for the season ahead is built, and it begins with rookies and veterans alike all being aligned in what the standards and expectations are.

With Quinn and his coaching staff leading the way and getting the rookies up to speed with their development, knowledge of the playbook, and everything in between, you can feel Quinn's thirst for teaching at this time of year.

And when you have a coach who relishes the journey itself and building a player from the ground up, it is easy to see why players gravitate to Quinn.

Because even at this stage of the offseason, the journey is just as important as the destination, and in 2025, the Commanders hope that destination is the Super Bowl.
