Jayden Daniels' knee injury sparked serious concern among the Washington Commanders' fan base. Head coach Dan Quinn looked to put everyone at ease during his first appearance in front of the media since the team's loss against the Green Bay Packers.

Insider reports suggested that Daniels had been diagnosed with a sprained knee. It's not seen as a long-term issue, but the No. 2 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft's status for Week 3 against the Las Vegas Raiders is now in doubt.

It would be a blow to the team's chances, especially coming up against a Raiders defensive front that includes four-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Maxx Crosby. Daniels makes everything tick. Although Marcus Mariota is a capable understudy, it takes away a significant amount from Kliff Kingsbury's offensive strategy.

Commanders will take things step-by-step with Jayden Daniels before Week 3 clarification

Quinn, in his typical fashion, didn't reveal too much. They will take things day by day, and the Commanders should know more about where things stand when the team begins preparations on Wednesday.

I know there will be lots of questions about our QB but here's what I know - he had an MRI and is truly day to day. What does that mean for Sunday? I can't tell you that now, will have more Wednesday.Dan Quinn

The Commanders are not going to leave anything to chance. Everyone is acutely aware of how important Daniels is to Washington's chances of meeting higher expectations. Quinn stated that no stone will be left unturned, and the signal-caller will only feature if they are 100 percent satisfied there will be no long-term ramifications.

This involves proving his play strength, mobility, and change of direction. Quinn emphasized this in no uncertain terms, so Daniels won't suit up if he cannot look like his usual self in practice this week.

Thursday Night Football might draw ratings, but the risk of injury on a short week, especially to begin the season, increases exponentially. The Commanders found that out to their cost, so Quinn has to roll with the punches and ensure that everyone is fully prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.

Taking every precaution with Daniels is imperative. He's a competitive player with a fierce inner drive to be the best. He'll want to be out on the field, but the Commanders will take the same step-by-step process they implement with all their injured stars.

This is more significant than most, but it's a wait-and-see scenario in the coming days that could legitimately go either way right now.
