Kevin Durant was in the news thanks to another bombshell trade. That didn't stop the NBA legend and lifelong Washington Commanders fan from hitting the recruitment trail.
And Durant had one seed-planting mission in mind.
Durant found out about his trade to the Houston Rockets during his appearance at the Fanatics Fan Event. It caused quite a stir, whether it was staged or not, and the future Pro Basketball Hall of Famer will now get the chance to help a playoff hopeful reach the promised land.
But Durant turned his attention to something else—something far more relevant to the Commanders. He just so happened to appear at the event with Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons, who's still awaiting a new deal from the organization that most experts believe will reset the market.
Jerry Jones is doing his notorious stalling, which is only going to cost him more. Parsons is anxiously awaiting developments, but Durant touted the possibility of the former first-round pick joining the enemy in the next two years.
Parsons said he's only connected to Dan Quinn. Durant said that's all he needs.

It was tongue-in-cheek, but it came with an inevitable frenzy from fans on social media. The Cowboys aren't going to trade him, and they'd place every franchise tag possible on the Penn State product to stop him from landing in Washington.
It's not going to happen, but Durant tried anyway.
Quinn and Parsons have a deep connection and respect for one another. They are adversaries two times a season, but that doesn't separate the close bond built during the coach's time as Cowboys defensive coordinator. That doesn't mean he's coming to Washington, but it's sure fun to think about.
Perhaps this was an elaborate ploy between Durant and Parsons to turn up the heat on Jones and get him paid. But regardless of which way this turns out, the All-Pro won't be in a Commanders' uniform anytime soon.
Or possibly ever.
Durant is focusing on the next challenge, which will probably be the last of his glittering career. But the fact that he had Washington's football franchise at the forefront through it all spoke volumes.
