Commanders Jayden Daniels Labeled Best Young QB in NFL

Most thought that Jayden Daniels was going to be good after the Washington Commanders selected him with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

But not many could have predicted just how good he would be.

In a recent article by PFF's Jonathon Macri, he ranks who he believes are the top 25 players under the age of 25 heading into the season. At No. 4, he was the Commanders' star as the highest-ranked young quarterback.

"The 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year took the Commanders from last place in the NFC East the year before he was drafted to the NFC Championship game as a rookie, thanks to a dynamic playstyle that led to both a top-10 PFF overall grade and a top-10 PFF rushing grade for the position," Macri wrote.

Daniels became just the sixth rookie QB since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970 to start in a conference championship. While he did not win the game, at least he can say the team that took him out is the team that eventually won the Super Bowl in commanding fashion.

The 24-year-old field general finished his first season in the league with 3,568 passing yards and 25 touchdowns on a very impressive 69 percent completion percentage. However, his legs are perhaps the most impressive thing about him, as he racked up 891 yards and six touchdowns on the ground.

If all of that is what Daniels is doing in his rookie year, then the rest of the league should be terrified of what he is going to do when he gets more experience under his belt.
