It seems that Deebo Samuel is adjusting to life well with the Washington Commanders and being Jayden Daniels' shiny new offensive weapon.
Picked up via a trade this offseason, the move for Samuel signaled the Commanders' Super Bowl intentions and gave Jayden an All-Pro weapon to pair with Terry McLaurin.
Though there were some skeptics of the move, with Samuel coming off a poor 2024 season as little injuries began to pile up, but now with a fresh start, Deebo has hit the ground running.
“I'll just say for Deebo, the guy's played a lot of football,” Daniels said. “He's very understanding the different coverages and routes and the guy is a pro and he works hard. So for me, I just go out there and try to communicate this is what I want versus this look, versus his coverage, and he go out there and he puts in the work and he understands it.”
The addition of Deebo and what he can do for Kliff Kingsbury's offense, both as a runner and receiver, is tantalizing.
Last season, Washington was one of the best running offenses in football, and now we add what Samuel can do as a runner to that group, plus, the stress that he can put on a defense along with McLaurin is going to be something the Commanders and Daniels will look to utilize often in 2025.
But for Deebo to be the weapon Washington needs him to be, he has to develop that connection with Daniels, and yes, it's early, but things appear to be moving in a positive direction.
