As the Washington Commanders prepare to host the Tennessee Titans at Northwest Stadium for their Week 13 clash, one player views this matchup as more than just another game. With injuries creating opportunities, the stage is set for running back Jeremy McNichols to step up against his former team.
Washington’s injury troubles began to mount during their Week 12 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Running back Austin Ekeler and right tackle Andrew Wylie both entered concussion protocol, leaving key roles unfilled. Meanwhile, Brian Robinson, who sustained an ankle sprain in the same game, has returned to full participation at practice and is expected to play.
McNichols is set for a larger role in Ekeler’s absence. The journeyman running back has appeared in 12 games this season, logging 44 carries for 217 rushing yards and a career-high four touchdowns. The matchup against the Titans holds additional significance for McNichols, who spent two seasons in Tennessee from 2020 to 2021. During his tenure, McNichols appeared in 30 games, accumulating 360 rushing yards and one touchdown while serving as a backup to Derrick Henry.
The Commanders will also be without Andrew Wylie at right tackle, where backup Trent Scott is expected to step in. Cornelius Lucas, who has split time at left tackle with rookie Brandon Coleman, may also see time on the right side.
Facing the Titans, McNichols will aim to build on his Week 4 success, where he delivered 68 rushing yards and two touchdowns. His performance could be pivotal as the Commanders look to end their three-game losing streak and keep their postseason hopes alive. A win would not only boost Washington’s record but could provide much-needed momentum as they head into the critical stretch of the season, with every game carrying heightened playoff implications.
