Commanders' Offseason Is 'Solidifying' Franchise As NFC Force

Entering the offseason, the Washington Commanders knew how close they were to getting to that elusive Super Bowl with Jayden Daniels.

Making it to the NFC Championship game in Year 1 with Jayden, it caught everyone's attention, and Washington pushed all its chips into the middle of the table with general manager Adam Peters trading for Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil.

Daniels gets an All-Pro caliber weapon, and a five-time Pro Bowler protecting his blindside as Peters put superb pieces around his young quarterback.

And for CBS Sports, those two moves will keep the Commanders as a force in the NFC.

"The Commanders were one of the feel-good stories from 2024 as the downtrodden franchise enjoyed a remarkable turnaround spearheaded by the arrival of Jayden Daniels, who led them to the NFC Championship," CBS Sports writes.

"This offseason, Washington did a masterful job of continuing to build around its young QB by adding star left tackle Laremy Tunsil and wide receiver Deebo Samuel via trade. They also added offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. and corner Trey Amos at the NFL Draft. All these moves seem to be solidifying the Commanders as a force in the NFC for the foreseeable future."

Now, the big question is, can Samuel and Tunsil, both of whom had so-so 2024 seasons, bounce back and be the elite players we know them to be?

If they can, there's no telling what the duo could do for Kliff Kingsbury's offense and Daniels, but if they can't, it will be fascinating to see how the unit functions. But at least by making those two moves, the franchise sees itself as a Super Bowl contender in 2025, and fans love a team that goes all-in.

Whether or not these moves work is unknown right now, but Washington has at least given itself a shot at glory this upcoming season by putting strong pieces around their young quarterback.
