The future looks very bright for the Washington Commanders, who are coming off an NFC Championship Game appearance and are tied for the eighth-best odds (+2000) to win Super Bowl LX, per ESPN BET.
They also enter 2025 with $79.5 million in cap space, the third most in the NFL, so they have the room to make some potentially big signings.
In an article for Yahoo Sports, John Molnar predicts that Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin could be one of the additions.
"One way to make this team even more deadly would be to add the likes of Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin, who was having a phenomenal season pre-injury in 2024," he wrote. "Adding him to play the slot alongside Scary Terry [McLaurin] would create a scary duo... He brings a skillful route runner on the inside, who could receive a bunch of targets while McLaurin takes on two defenders."
Godwin is coming off a disappointing season, appearing in just seven games after suffering a dislocated ankle in Tampa Bay's Week 7, accumulating 50 receptions, 567 yards and five touchdowns.
However, his career production is intriguing, racking up 579 receptions, 7,266 yards and 39 touchdowns in eight years while serving as the team's No. 2 receiver for a majority of the time behind Mike Evans.
If this scenario did become a reality, Godwin would have the chance to help improve an already impressive Commanders' offense, which ranked seventh in total yards per game (369.6) and fifth in points per game (28.5) in 2024.
