Commanders Presence Absent from NFL Top 100 Players

With the final list of the top 100 players in the NFL released Thursday, the Commanders had zero entries on the list. Despite all the injuries across the team, surely there were players who could have been included.

After finishing 5-12 in 2025, the Commanders had a handful of players who deserved recognition from the national media.

Players who should have been on the list

Laremy Tunsil: One of the best tackles in the league, Tunsil was nowhere to be found after being ranked the fifth-best tackle in the league by NFL executives, coaches and scouts. Missing the last three games of the season, he was still a foundational piece on the offensive line. After suffering a torn tricep during training camp, he’ll miss the majority of the regular season, but if he returns, he should still garner respect across the league.

Deebo Samuel: Although he’s not on the team for the 2026 season, Samuel was a key piece of the Commanders’ offense last year. Building on his role as a hybrid running back and wide receiver, he never truly reached his full potential because of injuries and play calling. Missing only one game last year, he led the team in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. Had the offense been more consistent and avoided as many injuries, the sky would have been the limit for Samuel.

Bobby Wagner: Even though the veteran had his shortcomings dropping back in coverage, he finished the season fifth in the league in total tackles. With 4.5 sacks and two interceptions, Wagner should have received the praise he deserved as one of the biggest leaders on the team and one of the most respected linebackers in the NFL.

Players making the list next year

Jayden Daniels: Assuming Daniels stays healthy and looks like his rookie self, he’ll cement himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the league. With a new offensive coordinator, Daniels is expected to take a huge step in his development as a pocket passer. Now surrounded by many new offensive weapons, he should have more than enough support to succeed.

Terry McLaurin: Missing time due to injuries is not something McLaurin is used to. Falling short of 1,000 yards for the first time since 2020, McLaurin is ready to bounce back after a full offseason of training, without the distraction of a contract negotiation. Joined by Stefon Diggs and Antonio Williams, the receiving room finally looks like a group that can compete with the best in the league.
