Only days removed from earning their second victory of the young NFL season, the Washington Commanders may be without their starting quarterback for the foreseeable future.
Carson Wentz reportedly fractured the ring finger on his throwing hand during Thursday night's 12-7 victory over the Chicago Bears.
#Commanders QB Carson Wentz suffered a fractured finger on his throwing hand in the team’s win over the #Bears, per me and @MikeGarafolo. He's headed to Los Angeles to see a hand specialist to determine the next step. His availability moving forward is up in the air. pic.twitter.com/jvsiIxHk7A

Wentz will see a hand specialist in Los Angeles to help determine his timetable for return. However, Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan reports that Wentz could be out of action for as long as six weeks.
Despite helping the Commanders earn the win over Chicago on Thursday, Wentz struggled, finishing 12-of-22 for 99 yards. His only real highlight came when he nailed Bears linebacker Roquan Smith with a monster block in the second half.
Wentz has completed 62.1 percent of his passes this season, throwing for 1,489 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions over six starts.
Washington's backup, Taylor Heinicke, will take over under center. Heinicke started 15 games for the Commanders last season, leading the team to a 7-8 record, passing for 3,419 yards with 20 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
