The Washington Commanders advanced to 2-1 on Sunday, defeating the Las Vegas Raiders 41-21 at Northwest Stadium. A solid start as they try to build off their NFC Championship Game appearance last season.
Unfortunately, starting quarterback Jayden Daniels was ruled out due to a knee injury, which meant 10-year veteran Marcus Mariota earned the start.
His numbers didn't jump off the page, but he still performed well enough to get the win, which is the ultimate goal. By the end of the game, he had completed 15-of-21 passes for 207 yards, one touchdown, zero interceptions and a 118.6 passer rating.
However, getting the win wasn't the only exciting aspect of the day for the former No. 2 pick.
Michael Ginnitti of Spotrac revealed via an X post that Mariota earned an extra $200,000.
This exciting payday is something he can earn for every regular season game that he plays in 60% of the snaps, and the Commanders win, according to Ginnitti.

That is obviously a large sum of money, and will add nicely to the already $8 million he is set to make during the 2025 season. Altogether, Spotrac reports that Mariota's career earnings sit at $83.5 million.
He has the chance to earn another $200,000 next week as well, as it's currently unclear if Daniels will be available when the Commanders take on the Atlanta Falcons.
If Daniels is unavailable, though, then Washington will still be going into the game with a quarterback, who has quickly proven he can fill in nicely. Having an extra $200,000 on the line is certainly a big motivator.
