The Washington Commanders want to replace FedEx Field with a new state-of-the-art stadium and the team is eyeing three potential sites in Virginia for a facility, according to the Washington Post.
FedEx Field is located in Prince George's County, Maryland, but the proposed sites of a new stadium would be much further with one in Virginia's Loudon County and two in Prince William County.
For folks outside of DC, the blue dot is almost exactly Nats Park and US Capitol. The red flags are proposed Virginia stadium sites. Football is FedEx Field. pic.twitter.com/HPTpdZ5Lq9

The Washington Post reports the Commanders envision making their next home the center of a "mini-city," complete with a vast entertainment complex around a new stadium.
FedEx Field has been the team's home since it opened in 1997, but it has been recently criticized for its state of disrepair. During the 2021 season, a section of the stands collapsed after one game and there were multiple instances of leaks.
The Commanders are contractually obligated to play at FedEx Field through the 2027 season before they're allowed to head elsewhere in 2028.
