Commanders rocked by injury scare as top receiver goes down at minicamp

Noah Brown deserves a little bit of luck after how the 2024 season ended. Unfortunately, there is now some grave concern surrounding his status moving forward.

Brown got a new one-year deal from the Washington Commanders this offseason despite suffering a serious internal injury that required kidney surgery against the Tennessee Titans. He got a clean bill of health and has been finding his football legs again over early workouts. This came screeching to an abrupt halt with a concerning development on Day 2 of the team's mandatory minicamp.

Commanders face nervous wait after Noah Brown gets carted off

According to those in attendance, Brown was carted off the practice field after falling while securing a catch. This came with a collective sigh of dismay among the fan base keeping up to date with developments on social media. It's now a nervous wait for everyone involved.

The Commanders have time on their side. They can take their time with months until their season opener against the New York Giants. Washington's medical staff will take every precaution and fully assess the damage before deciding on further action.

It might be nothing. But it might be something. Until we know for sure, everyting else is just speculation.

If Brown is out for a prolonged period, it would be nothing short of disastrous for the player. The Commanders want to see their faith in him repaid, although they have plenty of strength in depth where their wideout options are concerned. His deep threat and ability to accumulate defensive pass interference penalties are major assets. Hopefully, that'll still be the case.

It shouldn't be much longer before official confirmation arrives one way or another. The Commanders will be praying for good news, but general manager Adam Peters must come up with contingencies if the worst-case scenario arrives.

Brown is an important part of the team's plans. He's got an already-developed rapport with Jayden Daniels and gave Washington fans a memory they'll never forget with the Hail Mary game-winner against the Chicago Bears. But there is obvious anxiousness after another cruel stroke of bad fortune.
