Jayden Daniels' rise to stardom continues. The Washington Commanders quarterback parlayed a standout career at LSU with a remarkable rookie season in which he helped turn around his team while leading them to the NFC Championship Game.
His star status is constantly reinforced and now it is through music. In a recent track released by hip hop icon Eminem and another of the best lyricists in the game, JID, Daniels received a unique shoutout.
The track is named "Animals Pt. 1" and was released on July 4.
Daniels is name-dropped by JID in the second verse of the fast-paced rap:
"I'm a crazy man,
I had to get us in the game again,
I'm seeing lights, I'm looking at the lay of the land,
I'm in command like I'm Jayden Daniels"
- JID
JID—whose known for his creative wordplay—uses "command" as a reference to the Commanders.
It's not the first time JID drops a quarterback's name in a track. In his last track with Eminem ("Fuel"), he starts by shouting out former Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond. It's safe to say the Atlanta native is a football fan.
JID also shouts out Philadelphia 76ers point guard Tyrese Maxey, NBA legends Kobe Bryant and Scottie Pippen, and Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons. Later, Eminem shouts out UFC star Sean O'Malley.
As a diehard sports fan and a hip-hop aficionado, it's always fun to catch my favorite artists name drop players I closely follow. In this case, Jayden Daniels gets love from one of the best duos the rap game has seen recently, at least as far as lyricism goes.
The Commanders quarterback has yet to react to the track on social media as he gears up for training camp to start July 27. The Commanders will kick things off with three practices open to the public.
