The Washington Commanders came just one game shy of punching their ticket to the Super Bowl as NFC champions last season. That was just the opening chapter of what the team expects to be Jayden Daniels's very storied career.
As a result, many expected the team to be aggressive in its attempts to upgrade its roster in free agency. One position in particular was cornerback. Instead, the team elected not to upgrade the spot, and in a new A to Z Sports mock draft, they try to make up for it, though it comes with a lot of risk.
"Revel looks to be built in a lab for Dan Quinn. He's tall, long, and hyper-athletic with the ability to thrive in zone or man coverage."

The Commanders' decision not to add some of the top CBs on the free agency market was shocking, to say the least. Especially with how much cap space the team entered the offseason with. Now, CB has to be one of the top positions the team considers using their first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on.
East Carolina's Shavon Revel has some of the most impressive coverage film you will find from a college player. Some were so impressed with him entering the 2024 college season that he was rumored to end up being drafted in the top 15 come draft day. Sadly, he suffered a torn ACL that cut his season short and hasn't been able to work out for teams ahead of the draft as he continues to recover.
Now, for a team to use their first-round pick on him, they would have to do so without getting any up-close testing numbers to determine his athletic ability, and they would be hoping his talent against a group of five WR translates to the NFL level. He is a talented corner and could end up being one of the biggest steals from the first round if he pans out. However, teams have to ask themselves a bunch of "What ifs?" when evaluating him, which could lead to him falling out of the first round altogether.
