Commanders to be Without Standout Receiver vs. Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins’ Sunday contest against the Washington Commanders in Spain is looking very winnable in the wake of an injury update.

Commanders star wide receiver Terry McLaurin has been ruled out with a quad issue. He injured his quad for the first time this season in Washington’s Week 3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens and sat out the following four contests. McLaurin then re-injured that part of his body in his return to the field against the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 27 and has been sidelined ever since.

The former Ohio State University star has been restricted to merely four appearances this season, but with the exception of the 2025 campaign, he’s been an iron man for Washington in recent years. In every one of the previous four seasons, he played the entirety of the Commanders’ schedule while also totaling 1,000-plus receiving yards.

His absence on Sunday only further weakens a Washington offense that was already looking defanged to begin with. The mover and shaker on that side of the ball, Jayden Daniels, won’t be available for the Week 11 showdown thanks to a dislocated elbow.

For as bad as the Commanders have been this season, even with Daniels leading the offense, they’ve fared even worse without their starting quarterback — they have a 1-3 record in games he’s sat out. Former No. 2 overall pick Marcus Mariota has been the fill-in starter in Daniels’ absence, but he’s been very up-and-down. He just recently threw for more interceptions than touchdowns against the Chiefs.

Considering McLaurin and Daniels aren’t feeling up to playing, Miami has a golden opportunity to earn a win for the third time in four tries on Sunday. The outcome of Sunday’s contest should ultimately give fans a better idea as to whether a playoff push is in the cards or even possible for this Dolphins squad.
