Commanders' Wagner Reacts to Deebo Addition

Washington Commanders linebacker Bobby Wagner will go around again in 2025 with the NFC East franchise after signing a one-year deal.

Wagner's re-signing is a solid business move for the rebuilding Commanders and one that helped establish the culture and standards in the nation's capital.

But Wagner's signing wasn't Washington's first of the offseason; there was one before him - Deebo Samuel.

While not official yet until the beginning of the new league year, but the Commanders made a trade with the San Francisco 49ers to send a fifth-round pick to the NFC West franchise in exchange for the All-Pro.

For Wagner, after so many battles with Samuel in the NFC West as a member of the Seattle Seahawks, now Deebo is on his side, and he's rather thankful for that.

"Being his teammate, I'm excited," Wagner said. "I'm excited to play with him, and it's going to be fun, man. I look forward to what he brings to our team."

The Commanders' offseason has gotten off to a solid start with Wagner's re-signing and Samuel's trade, but Washington must continue to take advantage of Jayden Daniels' rookie contract.

With a host of receivers hitting free agency, general manager Adam Peters will have to do some wheeling and dealing to get this roster to the point where it can challenge again in the NFC.

Wagner and Deebo were good first steps, but more must follow, and with Bobby excited for what Samuel can do in Washington, we imagine the rest of the locker room and fan base feels the same.
