Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson wasn't able to finish the team's preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens due to a hand injury. Right after his exit, fans got a better look at how severe the issue was.
Richardson suffered the injury during a sack by Ravens linebacker David Ojabo. Replays showed the Colts QB was slow to get up and clearly in pain after he was hit. As he left the field, his right pinky finger could be seen bent awkwardly.
To make it worse, the injury was in Richardson's throwing hand, raising concerns about his availability moving forward.
NFL reporter Armando Salguero of Outkick shared a close-up photo of the injury following Richardson's exit, showing the youngster's right pinky bending badly to the right.

Daniel Jones came in as a substitute and finished with 144 yards on 10-of-21 passing. Another backup QB, Riley Leonard, also saw some playing time and threw for 92 yards and one touchdown on 12-of-24 passing.
Richardson, for his part, was able to throw just three passes and complete two for 21 yards prior to his exit. The Colts ended up losing 24-16.
Following the game, Indianapolis head coach Shane Steichen confirmed that Richardson dislocated his pinky finger, per colts.report.
"It popped out, popped back in," Steichen added, although he didn't provide a specific timeline for Richardson's return.
If Richardson ends up missing more time due to the injury, it could very well affect his bid to win the starting quarterback job. As fans would know, both Richardson and Jones were listed atop the team's first unofficial depth chart.
