Concerning update emerges on Jaxson Dart's injury

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart has been one of the high points for the team, so the last thing the Giants needed was to see him go down with an injury during the team's "Monday Night Football" game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Dart was injured during the Giants' opening drive. Rams linebacker Byron Young hit Dart from the right side, and from there, Dart crashed into linebacker Josaiah Stewart. Dart twisted his left knee and hit the turf hard.

The Giants have been waiting on news about just how long Dart will be out. Initial reports were encouraging, but things have taken a 180 with the most recent information.

Jaxson Dart's injury could keep him out for an extended period

According to Ian Rapoport of ESPN and the NFL Network, the injury is bad. In a post shared on his official X page on Tuesday afternoon, Rapoport stated that sources told him and Mike Garafolo after Dart's MRI that the quarterback "suffered a knee injury last night that was worse than anticipated."

"He's out an extended period of time, possibly the season," he added.

If that's the case, it's obviously a huge blow to the team during John Harbaugh's first year heading up the squad. The Giants were looking for a bounce-back year, and a Week 1 win over the Cowboys offered hope, but without their franchise quarterback things will be much more difficult. 

There's no official word that Dart will be out for the season, so for now the team will hold out hope he'll be back at some point in 2026, but the latest developments don't sound promising.
