The football world learned on Saturday that former New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez was hospitalized after a scary incident in Indianapolis.
According to FOX 59, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department received word about a stabbing just after 12:30 a.m. local time. The authorities reportedly found one victim with stab wounds and another with injuries that allegedly came from a physical altercation.
TMZ reported that Sanchez was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He was in Indianapolis to cover the Raiders-Colts game for FOX Sports. The network issued an update on the 38-year-old analyst this afternoon.
“Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition,” a statement from FOX read. “We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time.”
FOX59 news anchor Angela Ganote shared the police narrative this Saturday afternoon.
"According to the police narrative we received from sources Sanchez was not cooperative with police when they first arrived on scene. Another man listed as the victim in the police report told police he was delivering food when Sanchez told him he needed to move and couldn’t park where he was," the report from Ganote states.
"That man told police Sanchez started threatening and following him and then attacked him. The man said he first tried to pepper spray Sanchez but it didn’t work. He said it was at that that time he defended himself with a knife. Police noted the man had a significant injury to his face. Sanchez was taken to the hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery. It is important to note that Sanchez has not been interviewed yet!"
Ganote reminded her social media followers that a police narrative only indicates what was told to the authorities at the scene.
We'll just have to wait for the truth to come out.
