The Los Angeles Rams had one of the youngest and cheapest defenses in the NFL last season, but towards the end of the year they emerged as a unit that could make some serious noise for years to come. In 2025, they still project to be young and cheap, meaning Les Snead and Sean McVay could afford to add some veteran talent to the mix.

Jalen Ramsey was elite during his four-year tenure with the Rams, establishing himself as one of the best corners in the game. He was instrumental in helping L.A. win the Super Bowl for the 2021 season. But when the Rams’ costs got too high, he was one of the cap casualties, as they traded him to the Miami Dolphins prior to the 2023 season.

Ramsey never quite found his footing in Miami, and now they are looking to cut costs as well. And it’s possible that McVay, Snead and the Rams could be interested in bringing the 30-year-old defensive back, via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network:

“It does seem being traded is more likely than not. There are several interested teams. The Dolphins have had some phone calls. His old team, the Los Angeles Rams, from my understanding, are at least one of the teams interested. That reunion would be pretty fascinating, one of Sean McVay’s favorite players he’s had.”

McVay addressed the possibility of bringing back Ramsey both last week and after the NFL Draft.

“I think we’re still getting through that process. A part of getting through the draft is also when it actually officially ends and then going through the undrafted free agent process. Like we talked about, there still are a lot of layers, contract, compensation and different things like that. There is a tremendous amount of appreciation that we have for Jalen, the time that we spent. He and I have really stayed in touch. I know it’s the same thing with [Assistant Head Coach/Pass Game Coordinator] Aubrey [Pleasant] and some of our other coaches. There’s a lot of familiarity, but we’re probably in the same position when we talked about it the other day just because there are some things that we still need to take care of to be able to truly get through the draft from the totality of it all.”

The Rams and Ramsey had an excellent relationship during his tenure. He was well-respected by veterans, young players and coaches alike, and his on-field production spoke for itself. The split from Ramsey was nothing more than needing to cut costs and reset on the defensive side of the ball.

But the Rams, now, have some extra money to spend and a cornerback unit that could use a player with Ramsey’s pedigree. Darious Williams, Ahkello Witherspoon, Cobie Durant and Derion Kendrick are a solid unit, but it is definitely not the strength of the Rams defense.

Ramsey is sure to have several suitors league-wide, but if the Rams can land him, it’s sure to be a positive reunion for an up-and-coming defense.

Davante Adams lowballed by 49ers before signing with Rams

The Rams’ biggest splash in free agency was bringing in veteran wide receiver Davante Adams to form one of the best duos alongside Puka Nacua.

Adams still has a lot of juice left in the tank and earned a two-year, $44 million contract with L.A.

The wideout had a lot of suitors in free agency, including one of the Rams’ biggest rivals in the San Francisco 49ers. According to Michael Silver of The Athletic though, Adams felt he was lowballed by the 49ers and didn’t even speak with them himself as a result.
